What to Expect During Your Free Design Visit

Booking a free design visit is the first step towards transforming your home with bespoke fitted furniture. But if you have never had a designer visit before, you might be wondering what actually happens. In this article, we walk you through the entire process — from booking to receiving your 3D design — so you know exactly what to expect.

Before the Visit: Booking and Preparation

You can book your free design visit online, by phone (0800 292 2200), or via WhatsApp. We will arrange a time that suits you — including evenings and weekends. The visit typically lasts 45–60 minutes, though there is no rush.

Before the visit, it helps to have a rough idea of what you want — but do not worry if you are not sure. Our designers are experts at understanding your needs and suggesting solutions you might not have considered. If you have any inspiration images from Pinterest, Instagram, or magazines, have them ready to share.

💡 You do not need to clear the room or move furniture before the visit. Our designers are used to working around existing furniture and can visualise the finished result even in a cluttered space.

Step 1: Getting to Know Your Space (10–15 minutes)

Your designer will start by taking precise measurements of the room using a laser measure. This captures not just the width and height, but also any irregularities — walls that are not perfectly straight, slight slopes in the ceiling, the position of sockets and light switches, and the depth of any alcoves or chimney breasts.

While measuring, they will also note the room's natural light, existing colour scheme, and architectural features. All of this information feeds into the design to ensure your new furniture looks like it belongs in the room.

Step 2: Understanding Your Needs (10–15 minutes)

Next, your designer will ask about how you use the space and what you need to store. This is not a sales pitch — it is a genuine conversation about your lifestyle. They might ask:

  • How many people will use the wardrobe?
  • Do you need more hanging space or shelving?
  • Do you have a large shoe collection that needs dedicated storage?
  • Would you like integrated lighting?
  • Do you prefer hinged doors, sliding doors, or open shelving?
  • What is your preferred style — modern, traditional, or somewhere in between?
  • Do you have a budget range in mind?

There are no wrong answers. The more your designer understands about how you live, the better the final design will be.

Step 3: Exploring Materials and Finishes (10 minutes)

Your designer will show you physical samples of door styles, colours, and finishes. This is where the design starts to come alive — you can touch and feel the materials, see how different finishes look in your room's lighting, and compare options side by side. We offer over 50 door finishes, from classic matt white to rich walnut woodgrain, contemporary cashmere to bold navy.

They will also explain the different internal configuration options — hanging rails, pull-out drawers, shoe racks, tie holders, jewellery trays, and more. You can customise every aspect of the interior to suit your specific storage needs.

Step 4: Your Personalised Quote (5–10 minutes)

Based on the measurements, your requirements, and your chosen materials, your designer will provide a detailed quote. This is a fixed price that includes everything: design, manufacturing in our London factory, delivery, and professional installation. There are no hidden costs or surprises.

If the quote is within your budget, great. If not, your designer can suggest alternatives — perhaps a different door style or a phased approach where you start with the wardrobe and add matching furniture later. There is absolutely no pressure to commit on the day.

After the Visit: Your 3D Design

Within 48 hours of your visit, you will receive a photorealistic 3D visualisation of your new furniture in your actual room. This is one of the most exciting parts of the process — you can see exactly how the finished wardrobe will look, including the door style, colour, handles, and internal layout. You can request changes to the design until it is exactly right.

💡 Our 3D designs are so realistic that many customers share them with friends and family for feedback before confirming their order. Feel free to take your time — there is no expiry on your quote.

What Happens Next?

Once you approve the design and confirm your order, your furniture goes into production at our London factory. Manufacturing typically takes 2–3 weeks, after which our installation team will arrange a convenient date to fit your new furniture. The installation itself usually takes one day for a standard wardrobe, and our team cleans up completely before they leave.
